Design
Mathematically designed to produce a turns ratio of 2+2:1+1 for line level signals.

Primary (Input)
Designed for a low impedance source, such as an operational amplifier or transistor with a maximum input voltage of 7.5Vrms.

Secondary (Output)
Designed for an impedance greater than 600 Ohms.

Magnet Wire
All units are wound with the finest virgin copper magnet wire. All windings use heavy insulated wire to provide excellent manufacturing yield, lower customer cost and superior life.

The Core
EDCOR uses the finest M6 line grain oriented steel cores. Each unit is hand stacked to assure at least 92% stack.

The Bobbin
EDCOR's royal blue bobbin with black finishing tape.

Sheilding
This unit has an outer copper shielding around winding and core to help eliminate outside interference.

Termination/Mounting
This unit is designed for printed circuit board mounting. For footprint and suggested hole and pad size please see the dimensional drawing.

Excellent as 1:2 output
While I originally bought this to try using in an unbalanced fashion with feedback like the Lundahl LL5402, I ended up using the unequal windings of both primary and secondary in series, and "backwards" as a regular 1:2 output. I've had impressive results with this.

Since this is an iron core transformer, it will impart more "color" than, say a Jensen JT123, with has more nickel, but that is often a really good thing.

These handle a pretty hot signal, and have a nice extended range on top and bottom end. In series, you'll have 120ohms on the "primary" (backwards) and 224ohms on the output, so make sure this works with your design. Keep in mind that the Black Lion guys use much smaller iron Edcor transformers  on line inputs with excellent sonic results, so these larger versions just add more margin and low end.

If you were thinking of using the quad winding XS4400 as a 1:2, you can achieve roughly the same sonic results with this for a few bucks less.
