Design
Mathematically designed to produce exact plate and screen voltages. These transformers are precision gapped to adjust for unbalanced DC current.

Primary (Input)
The input is designed for a 10K Ohms impedance source.

Secondary (Output)
The output is designed for a specified speaker impedance.

Magnet Wire
All units are wound with the finest virgin copper magnet wire. All windings use heavy insulated wire to provide excellent manufacturing yield, lower customer cost and superior life.

The Core
EDCOR uses the finest M6 line grain oriented steel cores. Each unit is hand stacked to assure at least 92% stack.

The Bobbin
EDCOR's standard bobbin with black finishing tape.

Termination
The terminations are UL1015 20 and 18 ga. lead wire.

Mounting
This unit comes with steel end bells for mounting with the use of four screws. The end bells are powder coated Gentian Blue (RAL 5010) to add to your tube display and overall appearance.

CXSE25-10K :6R
This review is about the 25W CXSE single ended OPT, with 6R secondary. Originally Edcor did not have this secondary impedance, I had it custom designed. I received an unexpected discount on the design fee, and I have received the pair of transformers within a month of placing the order. I was very impressed by the build quality, I expected such quality at a much higher price range! The primary DCRs were extremely close, hinting that they use very consistent magnet wire. It sounds superb - I'm using it for single ended 807, both in tetrode and triode modes (700V B , 26mA current). For the first time I am not hearing any transformer distortion, which is highly beneficial with extremely demanding listening material: I never considered before the Cranberries album "Faithful to the Departed" as a good quality recording, because in every system I tried it so far (including high power amps, both tube and SS), it went into gross distortion (screaming vocals, distorted guitar, wild drums.) Always sounded as an overdriven, badly mixed album. To my surprise the CXSE in the 807 reproduced it with ease, and I can finally enjoy a "live" Cranberries concert that blows the roof and not my ears. No distortion, just exploding dynamics and vocals! Instruments holding their separate image even at the most intense passages. Other than the extreme distortion-free headroom, it is super quiet, imaging is spacious, with instruments in their own 3D space.
The base is solid, and although Edcor does not publish the inductance, you need not worry - the base quality I'm hearing tells that it has enough inductance for the job (and I'm using my amps with zero feedback, so no artificial help for the transformer).
Honestly, I have no idea how Edcor can sell this exceptional transformer for such a low price! There are virtually no user testimonials online, as people assume that for this price you will get budget quality. Serious builders: try this iron! You will be impressed with both build quality and sound.
Previously, about 15 years ago I bought the small 8K:8R SE OPT for a 6AQ5 SE amp, which sounded purely phenomenal on Zenith open baffles - feel of live rock (Led, Crimson). Tons of dynamics. So, my guess would be that dynamics is the hallmark of Edcor sound. If you want to build a serious low power SE amp (300B, 45, 2A3, 807 etc), get these 25W CXSE.
